RAMBLING-VST

this is the page where i'm going to list the VSTs and programs i use for my music for any curious ears.

free

harsh digital nose - this is a scratchy sounding synth that you can sorta just fuck around on for the most part. i usually use the default images for a specific static-y sounding synth, but you can get some crazy sounds with this.

alter-ego - chipspeech lite in a way, but with more realistic sounding voices than the entirely machine versions on chipspeech.

tdr nova - dynamic equilizer, also has a deesser built in. essential for mixing vocals into your instrumental cause you can sidechain yoru vocal bus into your inst so you can actually hear the singer without detsroying your entire inst. also really nice visuals for eq in general.

chipspeech - chipspeech is a vocal synth that uses speech chips from tts programs and lets you make them sing, i personally love this since it works in my DAW as is and i dont have to deal with exporting from UTAU and then importing into my DAW and it also has cool ass voices like SAM and Bert Gotrax. im very biased.

chipsounds - made by the same company as chipspeech, this VST uses a ton of old chips used in video game consoles and computers and machines that go so hard especially with electronic music. again, i am very biased.

vocalsynth 2 - an izotope product i abuse the shit out of. really good at manipulating vocals (you can see what it can do based on those weird filters in a lot of my acapellas. it's kinda pricey but i got it on sale for like 40 bucks on pluginboutique.

waves vocal rider - life saver for mixing vocals. it levels the volumes automatically so you don't have to compress the shit out of your vocals and make them sound weird just so they dont peak.

websites to look for plugins

plugin boutique - third party for a lot of vsts and whatnot. they usually do a lot of sales and if you're lucky you can find some big name products like 80% off. they also have a lot of stuff for free every so often.

dlsite - japanese third party seller for mainly doujin and games, though this is specifically where i buy most of my synth v voices. they usually have some good coupons every so often, and upon signing up i think you get a 30% off coupon for your whole order. plus, things are generally cheaper due to the US -> JPN exchange rate. only downside is you gotta buy points to pay for stuff with cause a lot of international cards either tweak out or dont work if youre trying to pay directly.
